Be aware that Iggy has been banned from all VerticalScope forums because he called them on their allowing unchallenged new membership and posts that were obviously bots. These actions were purely for commercial gain and had nothing to do with Tiguans or any other vehicle for that matter. So unfortunately Iggy (and a number of other previously extremely knowledgeable long term members) have now left or been banned.
Adios.

I have a 2021 Tiguan S, nearing 100,000 miles and just started to have that engine, code P24D6, issue. I have noticed that I am also losing oil. I don't have an oil drip (or puddle) that I can pin point the location, but it has been splattered on some of the lower parts around the passenger side tire well. I don't see a drip from the oil plug and can not tell if the oil pan gasket is springing a leak. I purchased the Engine Crankcase Vent Valve, Engine Oil Separator Filter, Oil/Air Separator. Vapor Canister Purge Valve Assembly (Part No. 06Q103B) I would like to hear more ideas and solutions before proceeding. HELP ANYONE!!!

@Tee Were you ever able to install the parts? Did code go away? Any other issues?

I’m at 70k with same symptoms as you. Got an oil change and then had oil leaking from oil drain plug. Replaced drain plug but now get the P24D6 code intermittently and am seeing oil dripping on control arms / suspension parts on passenger side.

2021 VW Tiguan R-Line 2.0 Engine Code and Repair…?

I need help understanding what’s happening to my car. About two months ago I got an engine light on my car. Code read P24D6, relating to an EVAP pressure issue. I recently took it to the dealership to get it resolved or looked at and they came back telling me it was the charcoal canister. That’s fine, I figured it could’ve been that or a vent line issue. They fixed it and driving back home (I live 3 hours away from the dealership), the engine light comes back on. I just took the car back for further diagnosis and they put me in a loaner. They stated the following:

“We are recommending replacing the Oil Seperator as the underlying issue. With that we are recommending replacing tank ventilation pressure sensor #1, timing cover (blown seal), and oil pan gasket (blown seal) from the back pressure. This is something we have seen maybe 3 or 4 times on the 2.0 liter engines. I had one last week on a 2.0 Atlas.”

I need help understanding this please. I know the basic operation of the EVAP system and how emissions are handled but I can’t wrap my head around it’s relation to the oil separator. I have not experienced any oil issues or leakage. In fact this same dealership changed my oil two days prior, I’m confused now how I have an oil problem when I initially went for an EVAP fuel emission issue. I just want to know if anyone else has seen this or had this problem?

The P24D6 code literally only states EVAP pressure sensor Switch “B”. Does anyone know what I need to do to fix it?

2021 VW Tiguan R-Line 2.0
Sadly, no warranty.
I have 22 Tiguan SE R-Line Black with 71,000. This code just popped up….
Before I get screwed by the dealer…..
Anyone have suggestions?

Update on my situation.

When to dealership, they wanted $194 to diagnose the P24D6 code and $194 for investigating the oil leak…so i took it to my indy. I had bought the AOS from VW parts and had my indy install, clear the code, and check for the source of the oil leak.

06Q-103-495-B
Oil/Air Separator
$62.37

Labor from my Indy was $60 for install, but he is a buddy so don’t hold your mechanics to this lol.

Oil leak was not evident at any seal…aside from the oil filler tube…which the assumption is the AOS failed, allowing backpressure to build and blow the oil up to the oil cap. With the two piece design we think the oil was leaking there.

After AOS replacement, there was vacuum at the oil filler tube so the was good news. Everything got cleaned up and no more leaks evident….and no more P24D6 code.

I would recommend doing this as a preventative maintenance at 60,000 - 70,000 miles to save yourself the money down the road.

Hi VeeDubDee

I apologize for the slow response. I actually installed the Air Separator myself on January the 2nd. I reset the code and the check engine light has not came back on. I have not noticed any oil drippings either. I have noticed that my engine seems to be running smoother and accelerating faster. I haven't driven long distance to see if I'm getting better gas milage, but I feel I am. I'm currently at 101,651 miles. I am thinking about going to the dealer to flush and change my transmission fluid. Happy New Year!!

Awesome! Glad to hear it fixed your issue too, the transmission service is a bit more expensive than I expected even from my Indy (~ $600 parts and labor) and the Haldex service was ~ $290, and rear diff service was ~ $100, so check with dealer first for how much they want for the service and then get a quote from an Indy shop. I also get parts at cost from my Indy, so it might be a little bit more expensive. Good luck!

I changed the oil in my wife's 2022 Tiguan SE about 3 weeks ago. She drove it without issues. After a vacation trip the engine light came on code p24D6. I checked the pcv and no vacuum issue found. I crawled under the car and saw where oil had been leaking ever so slightly from the oil drain plug. I replaced it and cleared the code. No more engine light. Hope this helps someone.
What did you do to check the pcv vacuum was operational?

I also have been getting this code on my wife’s 2022. Last month she got a low oil light, and sure enough it was…I can’t find anywhere that it has been leaking, so I’m assuming it was burning some. I just got the 06Q103495B yesterday. Cleared the code, and swapped it out, and seems to be working. The original you could breathe in, and out through the small port, new one is 1 way.

I just had my oil changed and after 1,000 miles the low oil light came on, the guy that changed my oil said oil plug was messed up but I don’t see any leaks, should I just change the plug because I’m getting that code as well, or should I change the oil separator?

Same thing just happened on our 21 Tiggy SEL 🤦‍♂️

I have a mechanic buddy who will install for me to try to fix the issue, but want to be sure I’m ordering the right parts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a 2021 tiguan r-line, that was burning oil, dealer said it was within vw specs and nothing was wrong.... a few thousand miles later took it in for a weird engine noise and got a brand new engine and transmission, there were metal shavings in the oil pan. i have about 2,000 miles on my new engine and i got a check engine light. the code is P24D6- what else could go wrong with a brand new engine/transmission? i only have a total of 50k miles on the car

Hey Guyz,

The video (chuckdavis16) above is exactly what you need to fix that code and the oil usage issue. I don’t know how or why that affects having a an oil leak problem to the check engine light but I haven’t had an issue since installing in January.
