With the windshield wiper control arm in the off position, the wiper may come on for one or two sweeps. Weather is dry, no rain or excessive dirt on the windshield
This may happen a couple of times in a day and may repeat for a couple of days and not happen again for a month.
Problem reported on previous visit to VW service but it didn't happen when they test drove. As I said, it is very sporadic.
Is it in the rain sensor or the switch in the control arm?
Anyone else have a similar problem and found a cure?

Sorry
Just after I posted, I realized I forgot most important fact. 2022 RLine.
I haven't posted before, and looked for a way to quickly edit post.
Thanks for your reply so I can correct/update the post 2022 vw Tiguan RLine.
While I have you on the thread (took me a moment to remember the correct terminology), anybody have a problem with the driver side seat belt release mechanism ??

Hello,
I had the same issue with my 2024 SE R-Line. This started happening almost as soon as I bought it (August 2024) I finally got the dealership to take a deeper dive into the issue 11 months later. They had my car for 2 weeks and replaced the 3527 steering column control module. 2 months later and the issue has not come back.
Hope this helped. My Tiguan was doing it more often than you described, but it was very annoying

The main reason I asked the year is the wiper switches changed with the mk3. With yours, I can understand this happening if you have the wiper arm in the first, auto wipe, position. But if the arm is definitely in the off position then the wipers should not be enabled at all. In auto, the sensor can sometimes get fooled and give a random wipe.
