Hi, I’m new to the forum and I have a problem. My 2014 Tiguan boot/tailgate is unlocking itself randomly. This sets off the alarm and I’ve had to resort to leaving the car unlocked. Mechanic fitted new part yesterday but it’s still doing it, although was fine overnight. I can hear a whirring noise at times from the boot lock. Any ideas folks?

Find a new mechanic for a start, anybody who fits new parts without determining they’re faulty is a plonker !! Sounds as if you need an auto electrician to check things if the lock motor is making a noise intermittently. Personally I’d have a play first using a simple multimeter to see if I couldn’t find the fault first but failing that an auto electrician would be my next port of call.

Mine started doing that in cold weather, water seemed to have got behind the rubber covering the outside switch and when it was freezing would keep tripping the boot lock. Sold it on before resolving it.
