1. put car into neutral, (handbrake on ofc) pull up gear selector housing, it's clipped on (that silvery rectangle that has leather attatched), pull it up over gear knob. (there are some wires attatched, no need to detatch)

2. you find two torx screws under gear selector leather, undo them.

3. pull whole this lower housing towards rear seats, its clipped on from under aircon plastic thingie

you can get it off enough to access everything udner there, if you want to remove it all the way, you need to remove more stuff.. afaik gear selector is in the way
MadOne I believe he is talking about the panel just in front of the gear shifter as this is where his start/stop button is. The round shiny one on the left.

brandl I see this is a duplicate post. Your original request for help on this was posted in the Modifications and "How-to" Guides Forum located here >>> http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/41546-start-stop-button-remove/ . I have now locked that thread as we do not accept duplicate threads. We also do not want members answering in both threads making things hard to follow. I suggest you go back and see what IggytheTiggy had to say.

Cheers!

yeah it's accessible after console is removed because 12v/start button/upper button wires must be disconnected from beneath before removing that piece.

but to replace start stop, no need to remove inner plastic
Aaaah OK MadOne. Thanks.

So, should he start removing the upper panel first where the button is located and then follow your instructions to gain access under the gear shift housing? Or, start with the gear shift housing first and the other panel second? Don't know if it makes a difference, but I am sure you will let us know having done this.

Thanks again!

at buttons area nothing has to be detatched. First thing is to remove gear selector leather housing and pulling out console, after that all other stuff is accessible very easily
Thank you Mr. Estonia. ;) It is much appreciated.

Have a good one!
