I didn't see a thread on engine cleaning so I thought I would ask. I'm hoping someone here cleans their engine compartment as well as the exterior.

Simple Green hose it down soak and rinse. Follow up with Chemical Guys heavy duty cleaner spray and wipe down. Just don't spray directly into the alternator or into any electrical connection and you will be fine. Clean mine every few months.

I give mine a clean ocasionally. Wheel cleaner seems to work well to remove the dust and grime.

As above avoid getting too much water/cleaners on electrical items (alternator etc).

Various brushes help remove the stubborn grime, stiff britles where it is really thick grime, softer brush for the deep crevices and when its just dust.

Finish off with black trim restorer on air filter housing, battery cover, etc.

Try the Chemical Guys cleaner Ian, I haven't put any dressing on plastics, it cleans it so well it looks treated. I did my mom's car a few months ago it even got rid of the nasty buildup on the air intake on her Accord. The old man swore I put dressing on everything.
