I know this as been discussed in the past but in certain posts it as wandered off topic. What I want is to find more information namely the following:-

1. Module(s) required to give a reliable outcome

2. Will the type of module be dependant on RHD/LHD

3. Supplier I assume these will be Chinese ( My experience of this as not been great)

4. Any short coding mods required

5. Installation details and help

I know we have all seen these utube videos but none come with any details

Mikejane2 is the best man for that having done it to his own car send him a PM.

Wrong spelling should be "mickjane2"

Hope that helps

Cheers

Lol my bad too early thanks Pieman. Although n4s is saying it didn't work for mickjane2

n4n I've read through your installation thread, can you clear up a couple of points I didnot understand your logic regarding "moving wires over to new module" temporarly leaving old module in place??. Second If I wanted to order mirror folding module what is the actual part I should order, again after reading your thread there seemed to be differences between what you ordered and actually received. And finally what was the name of the Chinese company you dealt with via AliExpress. Thanks !!

#9 ·
Ok...

So regarding the logic of moving wires, if you look at the picture you will see 2 controllers. The old one connected to the window motor and the new one only with cables.

To retrofit the controller you need to take the window motor, unplug it from the motor and put everything back in place.

I wasn't sure if this controller was going to work correctly, so I didn't wanted to do all this before testing it. So I just removed the cables from old controller to new controller. So window opening was not working but I could test the mirror close.

The part number: if you check image in this post you will see xxx 959 701(maybe motor+controller) and xxx 959 793(only controller)

http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/5195-bits-and-bobs/?p=218961

So you should buy xxx 959 793 (only controller)

I will try to look for the company and PM you.

Thanks n4s,

I can now see the reasons by your installation process. The chinese company I last spoke to said I needed 2 modules 3C0 959 793E + 3C0 959 792E. Where does this 3C0 come from ??? I do not fully understand the coding applied to these modules. Again any help with this would be appreciated.

One guy in sweden used 1KD 959 701E HW 3C0 959 793E How did he ensure he got this HW coding (He only used one module since he had Electric window pack)

See part of this scan

Can you explain what HW :3C0 959 793 E means

n4n, Again thanks for all your help today, the module I now think I am OK with, the 5K0 959 793 (odd number being drivers side) the suffux A , E etc still not sure about and as regards the HW coding still no idea (HW: 3C0 959 793 E) Any thoughts or do you know anyone that might shed some light on the coding of the modules ??

Thanks again

#15 ·
n4s, I appreciate that you say there is no short coding, however others have found this necessary.

What I am trying to get at is a full understanding of vw module description/labelling as printed on the actual module. Because to me you can order a certain module eg 5K0 959 793x i.e. single letter suffix but the remaining description/lettering printed on that module might inpact on what you are trying to achieve. Anyone who can explain module description/labelling feel free to comment.

So could you share with us what other did for coding?

Knowing that coding options are:

C01,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233)
C02,+0000002 - Ambient Mirror Illumination
C03,+0000004 - Mirror Turn Signals
C04,+0000008 - Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
C05,+0000016 - Automatic Run active
C06,+0000032 - Mirror Heater installed
C07,+0000064 - Door Exit/Warning Light installed
C08,+0000128 - 5-Door Chassis
C09,+0000256 - Seat Memory installed
C10,+0000512 - Right Hand Steering
C11,+0001024 - Safe-Motor not installed
C12,+0002048 - Pinch Protection inactive

C13,+0004096 = Folding Mirrors installed (MY 2008+)
C14;+0008192 = Manually Operated Convertible Top installe4d

C15;+0016384 = ?

C16;+0032768 = Disable button to lock rear windows

C17;+0065536 = ?
C18,+0131072 = Start/Stop Function installed (MY 2010+)

The only module I have seen you can code is the new modules

http://www.mytiguan.com/index.php?/topic/4644-mirror-pack/?p=163570

but that's not for our cars

Personally I think you are confused because you're probably googling for "Folded Mirrors with key" and you end up reading some things about retrofitting folded mirrors (using door switch to fold) and for that you need coding (the bit C13).

Like I told you, what I see is this:

AndySwede Coding:

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver (J386) Labels: None
Part No SW: 1KD 959 701 E HW: 3C0 959 793 E

Coding: 0210FF

Binary - 100001000011111111 (0210FF)

So the coding is!!!!

ON,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233) (WRONG FOR TIGUAN, WHY? BECAUSE HE CODED LIKE PASSAT)
ON,+0000002 - Ambient Mirror Illumination
ON,+0000004 - Mirror Turn Signals
ON,+0000008 - Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
ON,+0000016 - Automatic Run active
ON,+0000032 - Mirror Heater installed
ON,+0000064 - Door Exit/Warning Light installed
ON,+0000128 - 5-Door Chassis
OFF,+0000256 - Seat Memory installed
OFF,+0000512 - Right Hand Steering

OFF;+0032768 = Disable button to lock rear windows

OFF;+0065536 = ?
ON,+0131072 = Start/Stop Function installed (MY 2010+)

And I even found another with similar module:

http://www.r36owners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=840&start=40

Check ECO-R36

Scan old module:
Address 42: Door Elect, Driver Labels: 1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl

Scan new module Magotan

Revision: 12100001 Serial number: 2000120442
Coding: 0011F7

Binary - 1000111110111 (0011F7)

So the coding is!!!!

ON,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233) (WRONG FOR TIGUAN, WHY? BECAUSE HE CODED LIKE PASSAT)

OFF;+0032768 = Disable button to lock rear windows

OFF;+0065536 = ?
OFF,+0131072 = Start/Stop Function installed (MY 2010+)

So what do both of this have in common? Part No SW: 1KD

And what Part do I have in my car? Part No SW: 5KD

All this parts are for Chinese cars that have built in firmware that makes the key close the mirror.

And now you're going to say, but the guy from the forum wrote:

"...Folding with keyfob works on right mirror. Left mirror is dead..."

"...he gave me some coding options. After half an hour of coding - yes!!! Puddle lights, door warning lights, rear door warning lights, central locking, mirror tilt in reverse seems all good now and no errors..... And... "drums"... folding with keyfob works"

And I will tell you to read when he write this!

"...I had some trouble with an error related to if you have a LHD and RHD car but solved that just by trial and error with the coding..."

He had a bad coding in one of the modules that affected the function, not function disabled.

n4s, Think I am getting there.

1 Chinese module firmware will give the mirror fold/unfolding via remote key fob

2 Remote folding is not set from bit coding option of individual hex Bytes

3 bit coding only applys to items like 5-Door Chassis,Start/Stop Function installed etc etc

Am I right ?

Still to get a clear understanding of all text printed on a module

#20 ·
Yes, exacty, thats my experience.

Also if someone knows how to put firmware from chinese version or Seat you would have this option.
similar modules on Seat also have this feature, Skoda i dont remember.
I even think some expert with memory blocks would be able to activate this, like some guys activate cluster staging on clusters that dont have that channel to code.

Regarding the labels sorry, cant help you.

#21 ·
Lol, we all did same mistake!

Yes, it didnt worked for him, I was expecting vcds to compare coding and sw version but I suposse he never had the time.
Your so right Ruben I have been up to my eyes with work and modding my Passat, But I have some time of soon so will be revisiting my folding mirror problem then (or SWMBO will kill me lol.)

One for n4s

Preparing for installing new module, I have been looking back at one of your posts part of which is

So the "Chinese" module say:

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver Labels: None
Part No SW: 5KD 959 701 A HW: 5KD 959 701 A
Component: Tuer-SG 009 2103
Coding: 0004350

Quite funny when the part number outside 5K0 959 793 A (photo some posts before)

and this one was my previous module:

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver Labels: 1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl
Part No SW: 5N0 959 701 C HW: 5N0 959 701 C
Component: Tuer-SG 008 2005
Coding: 0004350 <- --- Please explain where this is derived from

Comparing this with mine

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver (J386) Labels: 3C0-959-70X-GEN4.clb
Part No SW: 5N0 959 701 G HW: 3C0 959 793 C
Component: TUER-SG FT 002 0504
Revision: 12110009 Serial number: 0009261918
Coding: 0212B6
Shop #: WSC 01357 011 00200
ASAM Dataset: EV_TSGFPQ35BRFVW46X A04001
ROD: EV_TSGFPQ35BRFVW46X.rod
VCID: 397F5B23B896A4E9691-806C

,

I cannot understand your coding of 0004350, is this coming from the different label file which has different coding information (see below)whereas mine 0212B6 I understand it coming from the various bit settings. But I am stuggling with 0004350

1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl coding information

;
C00,Door Electronics Driver (J386) Coding
C01,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233)
C02,+0000002 - Ambient Mirror Illumination
C03,+0000004 - Mirror Turn Signals
C04,+0000008 - Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
C05,+0000016 - Automatic Run active
C06,+0000032 - Mirror Heater installed
C07,+0000064 - Door Exit/Warning Light installed
C08,+0000128 - 5-Door Chassis
C09,+0000256 - Seat Memory installed
C10,+0000512 - Right Hand Steering
C11,+0001024 - Safe-Motor not installed
C12,+0002048 - Pinch Protection inactive

I am sure I am missing something !!!

#24 · (Edited by Moderator)
I was expecting that one...

Even me, I was pushing my head last week when I was writing the explanations for you. My coding appears in Decimal, not Hex.

So 4350 = 10FE = 1 0000 1111 1110

Knowing that coding options are:

Off,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233)
On,+0000002 - Ambient Mirror Illumination
On,+0000004 - Mirror Turn Signals
On,+0000008 - Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
On,+0000016 - Automatic Run active
On,+0000032 - Mirror Heater installed
On,+0000064 - Door Exit/Warning Light installed
On,+0000128 - 5-Door Chassis
Off,+0000256 - Seat Memory installed
Off,+0000512 - Right Hand Steering
Off,+0001024 - Safe-Motor not installed
Off,+0002048 - Pinch Protection inactive

On,+0004096 = Folding Mirrors installed (MY 2008+)
Off;+0008192 = Manually Operated Convertible Top installe4d

Off;+0016384 = ?

Off;+0032768 = Disable button to lock rear windows

Off;+0065536 = ?
Off,+0131072 = Start/Stop Function installed (MY 2010+)

And yours 0212B6 = 10 0001 0010 1011 0110

Off,+0000001 - Rear Lid Remote Unlock Button (E233)
On,+0000002 - Ambient Mirror Illumination
On,+0000004 - Mirror Turn Signals
Off,+0000008 - Interior Door Handle Illumination installed
On,+0000016 - Automatic Run active
On,+0000032 - Mirror Heater installed
Off,+0000064 - Door Exit/Warning Light installed
On,+0000128 - 5-Door Chassis
Off,+0000256 - Seat Memory installed
On,+0000512 - Right Hand Steering
Off,+0001024 - Safe-Motor not installed
Off,+0002048 - Pinch Protection inactive

On,+0004096 = Folding Mirrors installed (MY 2008+)
Off;+0008192 = Manually Operated Convertible Top installe4d

Off;+0016384 = ?

Off;+0032768 = Disable button to lock rear windows

Off;+0065536 = ?
On,+0131072 = Start/Stop Function installed (MY 2010+)

if you sum all your ON you will have 2+4+16+32+128+512+4096+131072=135862 decimal! Guess what is the hex value :)

Take care when adding decimal values with hexadecimal.

n4s

I thought you had pasted this data directly from a scan which would have been in Hex thats why I was confused

Address 42: Door Elect, Driver Labels: 1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl
Part No SW: 5N0 959 701 C HW: 5N0 959 701 C
Component: Tuer-SG 008 2005
Coding: 0004350

On a second matter do you know how to use LCode.exe, I know how to input the coding figure (10FE) to effectively work backwards. to give 1,2,4,8,16 etc I have tried to link this to the info text file (Labels: 1K0-959-701-MAX3.lbl) with no joy Is a coding information file the same as a Label File ???

If I am asking to many questions just say and I will stop. its just that I am new to this and keen to learn.

Where did you order it from? Does it look genuine i.e. a VW Shanghai part?
