hi yelo,

welcome to the forum - I've not seen a direct comparison myself yet - have VW Australia given any launch dates for the Tig over there yet?

HI all,

new member from Australia.

In reply, I currently own a Subaru Forester and went out and test drove the new MY09 last weekend. The Forester has grown in size, however I was not that impressed when compared to my current Forester. The new one lack a bit of polish and character. It felt that they had cheapened the car compared to previous model.

I have not seen a comparison between the two.

In Australia the Tiguan is to be released in May. They have already shown the car at a few of our cash shows. I am looking to get into a Tiguan when they are released here.

For your information, in Australia we are only getting the sport model. The escape (offroad) version is not coming here. The model line up is pretty simple.

2.0 FSI with 125kw (2.0 petrol turbo - must be detuned version of the GTI engine). There have been contray reports that this model will have the 1.4 turbo/surcharge engine though
2.0 FSI with 147kw (2.0 petrol turbo - same as GTI engine)
1.9 TDI with 103 kw

Below is the price list in Aussie dollars. Remember we need to add taxes and dealer delivery of approx $3,000 to $4,000. So if I want the base Petrol in Auto with leather and sunroof (also have to pay for metalic paint) it will be approx $47,000 AUD drive away. This is approx $21,000 GBP at AUD/GBP 0.4600

Lucky you. In Norway cars are defined as a luxury and taxed accordingly. A tiguar Sport with no extras cost in Norway ? 38 500, If you then want a bit extra you easily get ?5 000extra. And it is also nice to know that the reason for these prices is taxes......
Siggy.
Still waiting for a confimration date, ordered Feb4th, indicated production week 26
