If you have DCC it’s not terrible in Comfort mode but in sport mode it’s firm yet compliant. Just watch the curbs.

Depends on the tires
Largely speaking it doesn’t actually, 45 series tyres have such small side walls that it’s 90% suspension that decides how the car rides on 20s. As I said earlier it’s ok with adjustable suspension but i wouldn’t want 20s without it unless you’re only driving on smooth motorways.

I am picking up a r line tech on Saturday was wondering what type of ride I will get on Suzuka 20 inch wheels
It's not as bad as some make out, but make sure you've got the tyre pressure set to comfort.
My Mrs AND Mother-in-Law (2 of the harshest critics you could ever wish to meet) have said how comfortable it is in mine.

Tires are the first component of your suspension. So yes tires do matter. My 20” summers have a much better ride than my 19” snows. That may be an extreme example but correct non the less.
