Do not advise keeping "high vis" vests in the under seat drawer when actually driving in France or Spain.
They need to be readily available for wearing as that's the reason most French drivers keep them on the back of their seats in view to stop the French Police pulling them over and ticketing them.
I understood that a rear seat passenger was fined as they did not have ready access to a vest as French motoring regulations requires you to be able to be actually wearing the vest "when" you step out of the broken down car. A good point to remember if you are popping over on the Christmas booze run!!!!

I store my Sat Nav in there, there is just room for it and all the fittings etc.

In Topic: Alarm problem

30 August 2012 - 02:01 PM

Been searching for alarm problems and there seems to have been plenty of them, seemingly without any real long term cure.
My Tigs alarm triggers for no apparent reason BUT only the visual indicators flash--no audio siren since Garage looked at it, just visual.
It has been to the garage and they said it had no faults but they had looked into all possible causes.
I don't mind it flashing all night but if the audio kicks in then its a real nuisance.
Has any member experienced this visual only fault ?
Its a sad fact as I really like the Tig but I have experienced more faults with this VW than any other car I have had in the last 40 years.
It will soon be out of warranty and I am seriously wondering if me and the VW will not be together much longer

In Topic: Any DPF problems?

17 August 2012 - 04:22 PM

My 09 Tig has done 40K miles and had the sensor problem.
I do lots of miles at reasonable speeds BUT the Dealer did warn that the problem of the DPF could arise if driving through lots of water( flooded roads etc.)
As it happens it turned out to be the sensor not the actual DPF.

In Topic: Broken Springs!

I also had a rear spring break like the one illustrated causing a rattle( see my earlier post)
The garage said that they had seen it before on the Tiguan and it must be a faulty batch?
I had not been off road
