I went mad with apathy and spent most of the day taking up the laminate flooring installed by the previous owners. They also did a 'quick coat of gloss' over most of the skirting boards and door frames, without any sanding to key the new paint ... white 'sails' of paint all over the floor, so more sanding tomorrow [after I remove the bitumen coated plywood that was used as an improvised damp proof mechanism.

I really envy the people who start decorating on Friday evening and have the whole room finished by Sunday dinner time [perhaps they just do the 'quick coat of gloss' routine ...]

Ah, there's the answer...."previous owners".

Give it a quick coat of paint so that it looks good enough to sell, then it's someone else's problem!

In UK, the official shielding programme came to an end on 1 Aug.

My company sent me an e.mail at the time saying that they were still not prepared for the vulnerable people to come back to work and that we should continue shielding.

They have now announced that it is safe for us to come back on 31 Aug.

It's going to be very surreal. I have forgotten most of what I used to do, that coupled with all the apparent changes that have happened in the last six months.

It'll be like starting a brand new job!

All the hairdressers are gutted, because everyone has learned how to cut their own hair now!

Bathroomia is an ideal setting for Chamber Music, especially for the Brass and Woodwind Sections. And where, after an excess of cheese, one can empathise with the great composer Frederic Chopin and his struggles with his unfinished 3rd Movement ... Afficianadoes of Chamber Music hypothesise that Chopin's legendary struggles gave rise to the term 'piano stool' ...

You, sir, have far too much time on your hands. You should try to get out more. ;)

How much longer is this going to carry on? The longer it lasts, the better her memory gets. I looked at her the wrong way in 1980 and I made a sarcastic comment in 1982.

It appears that I have a memory like a seive.

My body has absorbed so much soap and disinfectant from the repeated hand washing regime, that when I pee, I automatically sterilise the toilet ...

Maybe THAT'S what Donald meant when he said you can inject disinfectant.....

I have just started a 12 week period of self isolation. The Tiggy is going to end up cleaner than a clean thing!

Hi Jayro, it is an OEM unit as originally installed, so I'll clear it and see what happens.

OK, I've seen enough! The house two doors down from ours is empty. When would you like to move in?

I'm quite good with free cups of tea and coffee :))

I have just bought a 2015 (65 Plate) 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech R Line 184 5dr DSG.
I know that it is a wee bit older than the focus of this forum, however, this forum appears to be full of useful information, most of which will help me out.
My last car was an Opel Astra Estate which I bought new in 2002, with 2 miles on the clock. It had done just under 230,000 miles and was starting to get a rattly engine. Hats off to Vauxhall, it still had the original clutch fitted!
I took the Tiguan for a test drive last week and fell in love immediately! Hopefully, I will not pester you all with too many questions. is an independent Volkswagen enthusiast website owned and operated by VerticalScope Inc.
