I got confirmation today that I have been tested positive for covid-19. It's a shock really, because, both myself and my partner have been sensible during lockdown. For a couple of weeks I have had a sore throat and a sniffle and didn't think any more of it. We had the family round last Saturday to celebrate a grand-daughter's 3rd. birthday. I noticed that my daughter-in-law wasn't feeling well, but dismissed it. Consequently, she had a test and it proved positive. So we all went into self-isolation.

As this week went on, my "cold" seemed to get worse, so my partner urged me to get a test. After spending all day trying to book a test online, I finally managed to book one locally. Luckily, my symptoms are mild, more like a bad cold. If it wasn't for the fact that my daughter-in-law tested positive, I wouldn't have known that I had it. My symptoms don't seem to fit the Government's criteria. So, if anyone thinks that they may just have a cold, please get a test done.

It's amazing how diverse the symptoms can be. I have just been told that my brother in law has been hospitalised, but is now stable.

I went mad with apathy and spent most of the day taking up the laminate flooring installed by the previous owners. They also did a 'quick coat of gloss' over most of the skirting boards and door frames, without any sanding to key the new paint ... white 'sails' of paint all over the floor, so more sanding tomorrow [after I remove the bitumen coated plywood that was used as an improvised damp proof mechanism.

I really envy the people who start decorating on Friday evening and have the whole room finished by Sunday dinner time [perhaps they just do the 'quick coat of gloss' routine ...]

Ah, there's the answer...."previous owners".

Give it a quick coat of paint so that it looks good enough to sell, then it's someone else's problem!

In UK, the official shielding programme came to an end on 1 Aug.

My company sent me an e.mail at the time saying that they were still not prepared for the vulnerable people to come back to work and that we should continue shielding.

They have now announced that it is safe for us to come back on 31 Aug.

It's going to be very surreal. I have forgotten most of what I used to do, that coupled with all the apparent changes that have happened in the last six months.

It'll be like starting a brand new job!

People in the UK are beginning to ignore the lockdown rules, ignoring social distancing, and we have already had localised spikes of the virus. This weekend pubs and restaurants are allowed to open, and I think that it will be chaos.

I think that the Government have lost control of this. I know that the economy is starting to suffer, but if we have a second national lock down, which I can see coming, then there won't be any economy or people left to save. is an independent Volkswagen enthusiast website owned and operated by VerticalScope Inc.
