I purchased a set of power folding mirrors complete with puddle lights and driver and passenger door modules that support this function and finally the switch for the drivers door.
Fitted them over the weekend and both front doors including folding of the mirrors the puddle lights and all function work fine and did so without any reprogramming of any codes. Problem is for some reason when the replacement parts are fitted both rear doors show up as Cannot be reached 1100 when a full VCDS scan is carried out.
Obviously this meant the car could not be locked using the central locking function so yesterday had to be converted back.
Any body with any ideas if this can be sorted out?
Any comments or details would be much appreciated.
In my case I have older Tiguan and uses the first one, means that CAN communicates directly to each module
You probably have Master-Slave, front doors are Master and rear are slave. The ones you bought for retrofit might be independent, so your slaves wait for message from masters, but never get it.
I went through the same update as you, Plasticman0100, and also had issues with coding and one module reporting as being non-contactable - except that everything on the door concerned was working fine! Unfortunately I can't provide any possible solutions as I had to resort to using my local stealer who got everything working correctly "by resetting it all back to basics and starting again". They had planned for a 2-day job (in case a part needed changing) but got it sorted in 1 hour!
I was also a little surprised when you wrote that it all worked without doing any reprogramming. This either points to them being incorrectly coded beforehand, or the BCM's use different codes for the functions you are now using, and by chance you got a match for the new features! Either way, I would suggest taking the route of my stealer and ensure that the codes entered are correct. Also when you wrote that the about the central locking, did you confirm that the rear doors weren't locked, as I read it that you just saw the error and took it that it wouldn't work....
Susses Pete i was also surprised that they worked without any coding changes but they did including the puddle lights. The rear central locking and window operation definitely didn't work as I had to park the car close to the side of the house with my sons car close to the other side for Saturday night, for some sort of security, while i did some research that evening with a view to re attempting things again on Sunday.
Could it be I have the wrong modules as n4s indicates?
The parts i purchased are as follows:
5N2 857 501 AE I think this is the mirror assembly
5N2 857 502 M the other mirror assembly
1K0 959 565 J the drivers door switch
5N0 959 702 G door module label on the motor
3C0 959 792 C the electronic module
5N0 959 701 G door module label on the motor
3C0 959 793 C the electronic module
Can't remember which one was for which side but this was installed correctly as the door opening was correct in the MDF. and I had researched the part numbers before hand to establish the correct sides.
The parts were also for a RHD vehicle so should be no problem there.
Thing's worked because the controller was already coded, the controller is the one that comes with window motor. Probably was a used one that you bought, so it was already coded to the original car.
The part numbers only investigating but if you have vcds log, I now for independent type there is something written like gen3 and for master-slave gen4
Thank you n4s.
I will upload my VCDS full scan log tomorrow showing the issue.
Just for the records I have today cleared all the DTCs and re scanned with no problems being shown
There won't be any issues as the front modules don't know the rear modules are there master-slave Vs independent front modules being seen by CAN (rear modules are currently not seen).
Here is my scan if it helps as I have folding mirrors etc (2014 Match)

You have Gen3 and new ones are Gen4. The CAN see that new ones are Gen4 so uses front doors to contact the rear doors, not directly, and it fails to communicate.
As I don't know any other solution I would buy new controller Gen3 Type, this are mines:
Hi all.
Thank you n4s
Slowly beginning to understand but how do you identify which ones are which
For example are these suitable or are these from another type of Vag vehicle such as Audi Scoda or Seat
1T0 959 702 S
1T0 959 701 AF
I had the same issue with my Tiguan 2011 pre-facelift. I installed the modules 5N0 959 792A and 5N0 959 793A, everything worked well, but the rear doors did not go on lock.
OK. Still frustrated.
Fitted two new electronic modules 5k0 959 793 C to drivers door and 5K0 959 793 A to the passenger door,re coded both to 0004798 and all works well apart from the fact the mirrors fold when in the unfolded positions on the switch and unfold when the switch is in the fold position.
Any thoughts or ideas as usual would be much appreciated.
You will see what the tag shows in the module is not the same you see in vcds.
It appears I have similar module to yours, check if it's 5KD because Mickjane had the same problem. I start to believe it's a problem of that module when RHD is active.
I would say you have 4 possibilities (LHD 5 door, RHD 5 door, LHD 3 door and RHD 3 door) and all of them are in memory positions. I think that for 5KD, which is specific for China, they didn't changed the eeprom part of RHD.

Mick, I'm going to test this on my car, the activation of light with mirror closed. I was given 3 positions on the eeprom where this should be possible.
This can't be done with VCDS, so you're a little limited.
The best I can do for you is: if I'm successful with my changes, you send me your module and I code it for you and send you back.
As an exercise, I know it's a pain to remove door but you could try to code as LHD and see if mirror close with remote?

PM,d you all the details and it was the drivers door which reversed.
Mick
