My endorsement is for Ridgeway VW in Newbury. We started buying from them back in 2009 when my daughters banger was due to fail it's MOT. I persuaded her to go for a new car on contract, with maintenance so there were only fixed costs, not horrible surprises. The salesman there, Bob Sainsbury was extremely helpful and patient with her, and has had our custom ever since.

Her first VW was a Fox, which she changed for a Polo, then Golf SV then a Golf (The SV was short lived, she didn't get on with it well, and the trade to a Golf Match was for payments slightly less than she had been paying for the SV!)

In 2012 I bought a Passat, and changed this for the Tiguan, last year. My wife bought an UP! in 2014, and has just changed this for the Polo. That's eight in total!.

We now just decide what we want, and want to pay, go in with this in mind and and invariably Bob will get close enough to make the deal.

The service department is efficient, and when I needed the roof bar bungs to stop it whistling were able to find the tech article and do the work FOC. When we had a problem with my wife's UP! paintwork (gloss black was staining with bird droppings) they helped clean the paint and gave me some protector to stop it happening again, again FOC.

It helps they're only 10 minutes away, so it's easy to pop in for advice and services.

I got my Tig from Newbury too "and" it was Bob that sold me my R-line.

I now have to "test" the service department out as I'm due a service and need to book it in.

They are 25 miles from me but the local "Swindon" lot were not interested, so I went elsewhere and ended up in Newbury.

Whilst waiting and supping their coffee, another guy had driven up from the south coast because of poor local dealer too and he was a happy "repeat" Newbury customer too.

My experience at Ridgeway Newbury was as good as hoped, see above.

Being very "over" fussy about my cars and the fact I hate people working on them, they very patiently listened to, wrote it all down and I'm pleased to say, adhered to my list of "do's & dont's"

All staff very friendly, the "cheesy" headcam video if my under-car safety inspection was a bit OTT though, but rather well presented all the same.

For those that may be interested, the price for a 10,000 service, which is mainly an oil change would have been £192 if I was not on a service plan.

Purchased my Mk2 Tiguan SE Nav 4 motion from Lookers VW, Newcastle. The deal was done on line/by phone and they couldn't have been more efficient, communicative and friendly.

There was a 3 month build wait but they kept me informed what was happening and what stage the vehicle was at (reinforced by the dreaded VW tracker.)

The vehicle was delivered by low loader to Lincoln by a very cheerful Geordie driver and I took it from there.

Highly recommend this dealer.

Cheers

Bob

I've just got my car back from its 1st service. the dealer took a video of the underneath of the car showing everything is in order. They then showed me the video on a tablet and emailed to my home. When I received the car back it was valeted inside and out. A software update was done concerning the Blue motion system because some owners were finding that their battery was going flat, too many short runs perhaps, it was fully explained to me but over my head. All in all a very pleasant experience. The dealer is Worthing Volkswagen (caffyns).

I would like to praise Listers of Evesham.  From my very first phone call enquiry to the collection of my new Tig, they made sure that I was completely satisfied with the service they had provided.  A also got a great deal into the bargain.  We have a Listers in Worcester, where I live and  I visited them before Evesham, but soon realised that I wasn't going to get a good customer experience.

It's funny how different garages can be even in the same dealership, I have the same issues with my local Beadles VW agent. I will only buy my VW's from their Maidstone branch as I don't get the same level of attention from their Bromley or Dartford branches which are far closer to me. Yet the Dartford service department has been great to deal with.

I had exactly the same thought Mick.  It just proves that it does not matter what the declared ethos of the company is, it is the attitude of the local dealership management that counts when it comes to customer service.  I was never in sales, but I know that many of our customers stayed with us because of the customer focus that my engineers displayed all the time.  Often it is the simple things that make a difference: a warm welcome, the offer of a cup of coffee or tea, something to amuse the kids while you talk, washing the car even though you only went in for something trivial, topping up your screen wash and I especially liked the video when my previous car went in for its software update, plus the fact they offered to come and collect the car from home and deliver it back.  That's customer service.
